What a walk-in shower screen is, which bathrooms it suits best, when a door is still the better option and what to check before ordering.

A walk-in screen is the simplest shower solution there is: a single pane of glass, with no door and no step. You walk into the shower as if you were entering part of the room, and the bathroom stays open and uncluttered. Not every bathroom suits a screen, though, so here is how to tell whether it is the right choice for you.

What a walk-in screen is

The screen is a fixed glass panel that keeps water away from the rest of the bathroom, while one side of the shower stays completely open. There is no door to open and no tracks or hinges. That is also why it is the most affordable model we offer: the walk-in screen starts from 7,000 RSD.

The screen is fixed to the wall, and the open side stays free for access, with no door to open or close.

Thanks to its simple construction, the screen is easy to look after: you only wipe one glass surface and a few pieces of hardware.

Like all our enclosures, it is made of tempered glass, clear, frosted or black, with hardware in black, gold or silver.

When a screen is the right choice

A screen works best when the shower area is generous and the floor is already laid so that water drains towards the outlet. In that kind of bathroom it gives a clean, modern look without a single unnecessary detail.

  • a floor level shower with no tray and no step
  • a long enough area, so water does not reach the open side
  • you want a minimalist look and as few parts to clean as possible
  • easier access with no edge to step over, which also matters for older family members

A screen is also an excellent choice when you want the bathroom to feel larger. A single pane with no door takes up almost no space, and the eye is not stopped by tracks and hinges. With clear glass the bathroom looks airy, and with tinted glass, as in the photo, it gains a striking feature.

When an enclosure with a door is better

If the shower is short or narrow, water easily splashes past the screen. The same applies when the shower sits next to a basin or a washing machine. In those cases an enclosure with a door is the safer option, because it closes the space completely.

An enclosure with a door also keeps in more warmth while you shower, which many people notice in winter. For smaller bathrooms, take a look at our sliding shower enclosures, which take up no space in front of the shower.

The decision does not have to be all or nothing. If you like the open look but space is tight, a corner enclosure with one hinged door and a fixed side panel, such as the Linea Pivot, gives a similar impression and keeps water in better.

What to check before ordering

Before you decide, measure the length of the shower area and check where the shower head is. The further it is from the open side, the less water escapes. Check the fall of the floor as well, because it determines whether water runs into the drain or towards the rest of the bathroom.

Think about ventilation too. With a screen, moisture spreads more freely around the room, so it helps if the bathroom has a window or an extractor fan.

If you are sure you want a screen but the shower area is on the short side, the glass can be made longer. That way it keeps water in better while the entrance stays open.

We look at all of this during the free measuring visit to your address. The glass is cut to the real conditions, production takes 7 to 15 working days and we install it ourselves. The 2 year warranty covers the glass, hardware and installation.
